The Nation adds Christopher Shay as a senior editor. He is joining from World Policy Journal, where he has been editor of the quarterly publication since the fall of 2015. He had previously served as managing editor there, from 2011 to 2013. In between those two stints at World Policy Journal, Shay had been an online news editor at the now-shuttered Al Jazeera America.
“Christopher Shay is a bold, innovative and deeply thoughtful editor—as anyone who followed his work at World Policy Journal and Al Jazeera America could see,” executive editor Richard Kim told Fishbowl. “We’re thrilled he’s joining The Nation, where he will spearhead the front of the book and help lead our political and international coverage.”
Shay’s work on the international coverage front will be bolstered not only by his time stateside at the helm of World Policy Journal, but also a year spent abroad in Cambodia, as a reporter and editor at the English-language Phnom Penh Post.
His first day at The Nation will be July 31.
