Travel + Leisure, the American Express luxury publication, along with travel Web site operator Luxury Link, today announced the debut of Vacationist, a new entry into the growing field of sale-based travel Web sites.
The members-only site markets exclusive hotel and resort bookings to its members at special rates — up to 25% to 40% off. Luxury Link provides the hosting, while Travel + Leisure reporters and editors supply content.
“Importantly, Vacationist is also a way for us to support our hotel and resort partners in the travel industry by delivering a smart, effective, tactical solution,” said Mark Stanich, chief marketing officer and president of digital media at AmEx Publishing. If the growing number of similar sites is any indication (think Voyage Prive, Tablet, Kayak’s private sale section and the Gilt Groupe’s Jetsetter), Vacationist is importantly also a way for AmEx Publishing to make mad cash.
