Featured-Packed, TweetDeck v2.0 For iPhone “Re-Imagining” Available Now

TweetDeck, the popular social media desktop client, have announced the release of what they are calling a “re-imagining” of their iPhone app, making the development analogy from the campness of Batman And Robin to the “cool car and new suit” of Batman Begins.

The software has been re-built from the ground up to take advantage of the new features offered by Apple’s iOS4.

Writes TweetDeck community manager Richard Barley on the TweetDeck blog:

Our team took the original iPhone app and distilled the essence of what made it so popular into a series of guiding principles. They then embarked on creating a brand new app from scratch, making use of all the latest technologies and design approaches, but all the while with an eye on those fundamental principles from the original.

After several months of feverish work, locked in the lab at the Batcave for hours on end, a new app was born. Like the change from Michael Keaton to Christian Bale, the new app is faster, more powerful, more flexible and, lets be honest, far more sexy.

Apart from the radical design change, new features include customisable columns, deck.ly support (groan), pinch/pull gesturing, conversations and more.

There’s even a video.

With new kids on the block such as TweetBot threatening to become the non-official Twitter client of choice, this big update was essential from TweetDeck, as the first version of the software was pretty basic stuff.

You can download TweetDeck v2 from the App store here.
