Airport Launches Twitter Departure Board

Leeds Bradford Airport has launched an application which shares live flight data via Twitter, communicating arrival and departure information directly to the end user.

To access the feature, travellers need to follow @LBIAirport, where they will be followed back. Then, passengers simply direct message @LBIAirport their flight information to receive updates directly to their device as they appear on the airport’s departure boards. The feature can also be used by those collecting arriving passengers, and users can receive notifications as soon as their gate opens.

Leeds Bradford is one of the fastest growing airports in the UK. In 2013, more than three million passengers flew to over 70 destinations with 11 major airlines, serving 24 countries worldwide.

“Passengers are increasingly relying on their mobile devices and social media to source information,” said Simon Kenworthy, Digital Executive at Leeds Bradford Airport. “Leeds Bradford Airport’s customers can now receive important flight information directly to their device via Twitter.”

“I am delighted to launch this application; it will enhance the customer experience by utilising the real time capabilities of Twitter to communicate updates for both incoming and outbound flights.”
