Twitter media partnerships director, Middle East Kinda Ibrahim said in a blog post that tweets about last year’s Ramadan were seen 8.4 billion times, on and off Twitter–adding that the most discussed topics include food, travel and shopping–and she provided details on the social network’s offerings for this year’s Ramadan.

If Periscope users add any of the hashtags below to their broadcasts, hearts will transform into crescent moons, as well, and Ibrahim said this marks Periscope’s first-ever custom heart designed for Ramadan.
Twitter users in the Middle East can receive tweets with daily reminders for Iftar and Imsak times by following and tweeting Al Aribya Live with the #امساكية hashtag, as well as a hashtag containing the name of the city they are located in.
Ibrahim added in her blog post:
In Indonesia, people can celebrate the spirit of togetherness by using the #KebersamaanRamadhan hashtag on Twitter. We are also collaborating with local partners to launch a new @ramadhan account to provide exclusive content around the holy month. By following and tweeting specific hashtags to @ramadhan, you will receive direct messages with prayer reminders (#JadwalShalat), daily wisdoms (#Inspirasi) and daily recipes (#Kuliner), giving you a more personalized Twitter experience during Ramadhan. During sahur and close to iftar times, @ramadhan will hold quizzes with daily, weekly and grand prizes, too.
