Two Cut At Post-Tribune Of Northwest Indiana

The Post-Tribune of Northwest Indiana cut two positions, or 1/15th of the newsroom, the Gary Newspaper Guild said (and Phil Rosenthal of the Chicago Tribune reported on). A reporter and a copy editor were trimmed.

The cuts, Rosenthal said, come three weeks after Jeremy Halbreich, chief executive of Post-Tribune parent Sun-Times Media, said that no more layoffs were coming.

Because of a deal struck with the paper’s new owners (as the Sun-Times Media group declared bankruptcy over a year ago), the two laid-off staffers will receive an extra four weeks of severance.
