A Staten Island grand jury has handed up indictments against to two suspects in the shooting death of the popular DJ Megatron, whose real name was Corey McGriff.
William Williams, 21, and Richard Cromwell, 20, were formally charged Thursday with murder, robbery, and weapon possession.
Prosecutors say Williams fired the shot that killed McGriff, while Cromwell is accused of robbing him.
Both have pleaded not guilty and are being held without bail. They are expected to be arraigned next week.
The 32-year-old DJ Megatron was killed on March 27 in the Clifton section of Staten Island during what prosecutors describe as a botched robbery. He had been a popular personality on Hot 97/WQHT before making a splash on TV with BET’s 106 and Park.
