Vox Media hired Nishat Kurwa to originate a new role for the company as the first executive producer of audio for its growing podcast efforts. As ep of audio, Kurwa will be responsible for all of the company’s current and future podcasts across all of its eight properties, which include Eater, Vox, SB Nation and The Verge among them.
It will be a role that will require a lot of organization and likely reorganization, considering the fact that Vox Media doesn’t have a unified podcasting operation, and all eight publications handle their podcast creation and production differently.
Kurwa is a 15-year vet of the radio industry, having served most recently as senior digital producer of Marketplace at American Public Media. She has also had roles at KCBS FM in San Francisco and was news director and senior producer at Youth Radio. Kurwa will be based out of New York, reporting to Vox Media president Marty Moe.
