Vulture Rolls Out ‘Stoner Week’

Week-long series kicked off Monday with "The Making of the Modern Stoner" and "The Stoner Canon."

Sometimes, the headline says it all. To wit, here’s one today from New York magazine, part of “Stoner Week,” a week-long Vulture series:

New York senior editor David Marchese told The Denver Post’s Ricardo Baca that the timing was right for an extended look at legal weed’s rocket red glow:

“Marijuana is a lot more widespread and accepted than it used to be, and increasingly legal, and accordingly there’s been a shift in how it’s been portrayed in pop culture.”

“The depiction of the stoner in pop culture has changed and normalized in a lot of ways, and there’s a different stigma – and not really a stigma – to people smoking pot anymore. Or certainly there’s less of a stigma than there used to be. The larger world’s changing, and has changed, so it’s a good opportunity to try and get at that a little bit with a package on Vulture.”

The site has posted four SW articles so far. FishbowlNY looks forward to another tipped by Marchese to The Cannabist, about the many sponsorships and endorsements emanating from “the celebrity weed game.”
