The Verge Comes Up With the Podcast Name of the Year

With the debut of Walt Mossberg’s Ctrl-Walt-Delete podcast upon us, it most definitely is worth telescoping back to the night The Verge editor in chief Nilay Patel and a podcast producer were brainstorming about what Mossberg’s program should be called.

That’s right. Mossberg is such a king he has others doing his podcast name bidding. “It was either this or The Walt Mossberg Show,” Patel explains to FishbowlNY, “which is pretty bleh. We really wanted to show off his incredible energy and personality. He’s always the interviewer, never the interviewee. Everything we’ll be working on with Walt on The Verge is going to be different, more exuberant, more personality-driven.”

Give that podcast producer a raise, Mr. Patel (if you have not already)! The photo above of Mossberg and Patel—which is being shared across Twitter today in honor of the podcast launch—is in no danger of being described as “bleh” either. It was taken at a Code conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., this past May —the day after Vox Media announced that it had acquired Re/code.

Ctrl-Walt-Delete is a weekly show, with new episodes releasing every Thursday.
