Comedian Jon Glaser Was Born in Motown, Not Chi-Town

A commonly held misconception.

It may seem like a small detail. But contrary to what is listed on IMDb, Jon Glaser, who wrote for Conan O’Brien for many years and more recently Adult Swim’s Delocated and Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer, was born in Detroit. Not Chicago.

Glaser was a recent guest on WGN Radio podcast The Download to talk about his truTV series Jon Glaser Loves Gear. He started off by correcting host Justin Kaufmann about that bio detail:

“It’s so weird… I moved to Chicago after college. I was born in Michigan and went to school in Michigan… You wouldn’t know, when I talk, I sound very Chicago.”

Glaser in the podcast talks about his love of New York and other topics, including the seminal 1995 Second City Chicago show “Piñata Full of Bees.” Another fun element is how tied in Glaser is with the TV comedy community, casually mentioning friends who work on South Park, for Stephen Colbert and so on.
