After a three-year hiatus, Facebook’s F8 developer conference returns this month. According to Wired, the delay was partially due to the company’s inability to help developers monetize their apps. This year, monetization will be a key component of the event.
But monetization isn’t anything without scale, and it seems that the developer ecosystem is becoming less and less diverse. Last month, the top 10 apps alone had a 40 percent market share in terms of daily active users (DAUs), according to AppData’s new Power Rankings. The top 10 developers accounted for over 50 percent of the market in the same time period.
Power Rankings gives you an easy way to understand which apps and developers are gaining market share (and who’s losing). The new feature tracks the top 100 developers, the top 200 apps and includes data all the way back through 2013. With the ability to filter by MAU or DAU, there are plenty of interesting insights to peruse.
