No matter what you think of Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, you have to give her credit for bowing down to the almighty advertisers. Mayer told an Advertising Week audience that while ad blocking technology might currently be a hot topic, she is not a fan. Why? Because ads make content better!
“I really believe that commercials and ads make content better,” said Mayer. “The experience on the web [without ads] becomes a lot less rich in my experience. I personally think it is a mistake.”
Mayer is the CEO of an ad-supported company, so we get the anti-ad blockers take. But trying to convince people that you actually think ads make the Internet better makes you sound like a… Yahoo.
