YouTube: Here’s How to Start a Chat With a Friend

Users can have private conversations with others in the YouTube mobile app YouTube

Did you know that you can privately chat with your contacts in the YouTube mobile application? Our guide will show you how to create a chat with one of your YouTube contacts.

Step 1: Tap “Inbox” at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Tap “Friends” near the top of the screen. Note: If you’ve recently looked at your YouTube notifications, you may need to tap “Messages” near the top of the “Inbox” screen to see the Friends option.

Step 3: Near the top of the screen, long-press on the friend you wish to start a chat with. Note: If you don’t see the friend you’re looking for, tap “View All” near the top-right corner of the screen to view all of your YouTube friends.

Step 4: Tap “Chat with [name].”

From there, you can send a message or YouTube video to the person you’ve decided to chat with.
