YouTube’s Greyson Chance Inspires Ellen To Start Her Own Record Label

Ellen announced yesterday that she has been so inspired by 12-year old Greyson Chance that she is starting her own record label, eleveneleven. Ellen will announce today on her show that Greyson will be the first artist signed to her new label, signaling a new era for YouTube stardom.

Ellen has positioned herself as one of the top YouTube scouts. She frequently has guests on her show who have starred in popular YouTube clips, such as OneManSho’s ‘What song is this?’, Unicorn After Wisdom Teeth girl, and most recently Greyson Chance. She boosted the popularity of many hilarious YouTube videos and talented YouTube performers, but her new record label should take things to a whole new level, giving talented stars the opportunity to forge ahead with their careers.

In a video on her show’s website Ellen says, “[Greyson] inspired me to start a record label called eleveneleven. He is my first artist. We’re making a record together.” She is holding a huge check for $10,000 made out to Greyson Chance and the 12-year old is smiling from ear to ear. It will be interesting to see how many records Greyson will sell, backed by one of the world’s most influential people.

What’s your take on Ellen’s foray into the recording world? Will she be the catalyst for a new revolution in the rise of YouTube stars?
