Reed Business Information will shutter 23 trade publications it has not been able to sell, it was announced today in a memo from RBI CEO Keith Jones to company employees.
“After nine months of concerted efforts by John Poulin, Jeff DeBalko and their teams, we have decided we must now conclude the divestment process for the remainder of RBI-US,” Jones says in the memo. “Effective immediately, we are closing the publishing operations of the following titles that remain unsold.”
These titles are: Building Design+Construction, Chain Leader, Construction Bulletin, Construction Equipment, Consulting-Specifying Engineer, Control Engineering, Converting, Foodservice Equipment & Supplies, Graphic Arts Blue Book, Graphic Arts Monthly, HOTELS, Logistics Management, Material Handling Product News, Modern Materials Handling, Plant Engineering, Professional Builder, Professional Remodeler, Purchasing, Restaurants & Institutions, Semiconductor International, Spec Check, Supply Chain Management Review and Tradeshow Week.
Reed announced last month it has sold eight titles to Sandow Media and two titles to Media Source Inc. It was revealed last week that Reed property Publisher’s Weekly would be sold to a company headed by former PW publisher George W. Slowik Jr. Reed has sold 21 titles from its stable of b-to-b publications since announcing a divestiture plan last summer.
