Eugene Raitt, the Direct Marketing Association’s chairman of the board, is stepping down in early May, seven months into what was to be a year-long term.
Raitt, who is senior vice president of accident and health and CMO of Asia for Allied World Assurance Company, specified work commitments as the reason for relinquishing his post, confirmed Sue R.E. Geramian, DMA’s senior vice president and chief communications officer.
A chair selection committee has been established and plans to present a candidate to the DMA board at its next meeting, on May 11. The committee includes Raitt; Robert Allen, DMA’s interim president and CEO; Donn Rappaport, chairman of ALC Data Management (and a former DMA Chairman); Kelly Browning, executive vice president & COO of AICR (DMA Chairman before Raitt); and Joel Quadracci, president and CEO of Quad/Graphics.
Browning also heads the search committee charged with finding the associations’ next president and CEO. Since, as board chairman, Raitt had a seat on this search committee, it’s likely that his successor will assume that duty as well.
