ABC Taps Richman to Head Up Prime Sales

Debbie Richman has been named svp of primetime sales for the ABC Television Network, the network confirmed today.

Richman replaces Geri Wang, who was recently promoted to succeed to Mike Shaw as president of sales and marketing for the ABC Television Network. In her new role, Richman will report to Wang.

Richman was previously evp, ad sales, for Lifetime Networks, a role which she had held since April 2008. In that role, she oversaw all ad sales for Lifetime Television and Lifetime Movie Network, as well as Lifetime Real Women, Lifetime Digital, Lifetime HD, Lifetime Movie Network HD and Lifetime On Demand. There is no word yet on who will replace Richman.

“Debbie is a star in our business and will be a real asset to our sales team. We’re very happy she’s joining us,” Wang said in a statement.

Prior to joining Lifetime, Richman had been managing director, national broadcast, at Omincom’s OMD since 2005. Richman was also director of national television at Optimum Media, which folded into OMD in 2002. While there, she managed the investment of billings for more than 40 blue-chip accounts, including Hershey, Universal Pictures, Mobil, Clorox, McDonald’s, State Farm and JC Penney. Before that, she worked in various media positions at McCann-Erickson, Young & Rubicam and Ogilvy & Mather.
