CBS Announces Its Fall Premiere Dates, and It All Starts With Thursday Night Football

Intent on winning the season in adults 18-49, CBS is making an aggressive early move, becoming the first broadcast network to announce its fall premiere dates.

The network will kick off its fall schedule on Thursday, Sept. 17, with the start of Thursday Night Football featuring a matchup between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs. 

For its traditional premiere week, CBS will roll out The Big Bang Theory, new comedy Life in Pieces, Scorpion and NCIS: Los Angeles on Monday, Sept. 21. On Tuesday, Sept. 22, NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans and new drama Limitless will debut. Wednesday, Sept. 23 brings Survivor, while The Amazing Race, Hawaii Five-O and Blue Bloods premiere on Friday, Sept. 25.

The season premiere of 48 Hours is on Saturday, Sept. 27, and 60 Minutes premieres on Sunday, Sept. 27, followed by the two-hour series finale of CSI.

The following week, Criminal Minds and new drama Code Black air Wednesday, Sept. 30, with Madam Secretary, The Good Wife and CSI: Cyber premiering on Sunday, Oct. 4.

After CBS' eight Thursday Night Football games wrap up, the network will relocate The Big Bang Theory and Life in Pieces to Thursdays. Supergirl—which made a splash last month when its upfront trailer was viewed more than 10 million times in its first week.—will premiere Oct. 26 in a special 8:30 p.m. time slot following The Big Bang Theory before moving to 8 p.m. the following week.

On Thursday, Nov. 5, CBS rolls out its post-football Thursday lineup: The Big Bang Theory, Life in Pieces, Mom, new comedy Angel From Hell and Elementary.

"With many of the biggest hits on prime-time television as well as Thursday Night Football, we have the ability to strategically roll out our new season over several weeks this fall," said CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler. "We've created a very focused scheduling and promotional environment to provide the best possible launch platform for new and returning series across the schedule."
