Erin Burnett, the CNBC anchor (and subject of Chris Matthews’ admiration), is “poised to sign a long-term contract” with CNN, according to The New York Times’ Brian Stelter. The information comes from “three people with knowledge of [Burnett’s] plans,” Stelter reported.

Burnett currently co-anchors CNBC’s Squawk on the Street from 9 to 11 a.m. and anchors Street Signs from 2 to 4 p.m. So far, there’s no information about what time slot she’ll take at CNN, but Stelter suggested that she might end up with an afternoon or evening broadcast.

Rumors of Burnett’s possible departure have been flying around CNBC for several weeks. Burnett has shown interest in covering topics beyond business news, which is her current network’s main focus. Before deciding on CNN, Burnett reportedly also held talks with ABC and CBS.

Neither CNN nor CNBC has been willing to comment on Burnett’s move.
