The Flash and Jane the Virgin Bookend The CW’s Fall Premieres

Network delays fall debuts until October

Last season, most of the buzz surrounding The CW focused on a pair of freshman series: The Flash and Jane the Virgin. Next season, those very two shows bookend the network's fall premieres.

Launching its 2015-16 season with a schedule that includes only one new show, The CW announced today that its series premieres won't start until Oct. 6, when The Flash and iZombie return for their second seasons. Most of its other shows debut the same week, but the network is delaying its Monday series—new drama Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin—until Oct. 19.

While it's saving its series premieres for October—the other broadcast networks will launch most of their shows in September—The CW says it will "kick off the fall" on Sept. 29 and Sept. 30 when it broadcasts The iHeartRadio Music Festival.

Here are The CW's fall premieres, by day:

  • Monday: New drama Crazy Ex-Girlfriend debuts Oct. 19, followed by Jane the Virgin.
  • Tuesday: On Oct. 6, The Flash returns for Season 2, followed by iZombie.
  • Wednesday: Arrow and Supernatural premiere on Oct. 7.
  • Thursday: The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are back on Oct. 8.
  • Friday: On Oct. 9, Reign and America's Top Model premiere.

Now that The CW has locked in its premieres, Fox is the only broadcast network that hasn't yet set its schedule.
