Disney is never one to pass on cross promotion, and tonight was no exception.
The company used ESPN's Monday Night Football to air the third and final trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first installment in the series since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012. Disney is also owns a majority stake in ESPN.
Though Star Wars fans had to sit through the first half of an ugly game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, it was worth the wait, as the two-and-half-minute clip gave fans their best look yet at the film.
The trailer features a lot of Harrison Ford's Han Solo, along with new castmembers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Issac and Adam Driver. Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia is briefly seen but Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker has yet be shown.
Naturally, reaction on social media was overwhelmingly positive.
I could not have loved that trailer more if it was a 5-minute funeral sequence for Jar Jar Binks
