-Ratings Breakdown:

CBS led this final Friday of the traditional (September to May) TV season, but just 6.68 million viewers and a 1.5 rating/5 share in the demo is nothing to boast about. Thankfully, the broadcast networks are not abandoning this increasingly troubled evening, with five new series (including ABC’s acquisition of former Fox reality hour Secret Millionaire) and five returning shows moving to new time periods on Friday this fall. See schedule below.

The series-finale of CBS’ Ghost Whisperer departed with a dominant (but not impressive) 6.65 million viewers and a 1.6 rating/7 share among adults 18-49 in the 8 p.m. hour. At present, ABC is reportedly in conversations to potentially keep Ghost Whisperer alive. The season-finale of Medium, which moves into the 8 p.m. hour next fall, followed with an equally lackluster 6.82 million viewers (#1) and a second-place 1.6/ 6 in the demo at 9 p.m. Medium led into Miami Medical, which earned its cancellation stripes with 6.56 million viewers (#2) and a last-place 1.2/ 4 in the demo at 10 p.m. CBS will burn-off the five remaining original episodes of Miami Medical effective on Thursday, June 4 at 10 p.m. ET.

This fall, CBS opens Friday with aforementioned Medium, followed by relocated CSI: NY and new drama Blue Bloods.

Recent NBC returnee Friday Night Lights remained a low-rated option at 8 p.m., with 3.96 million viewers (#2) and a third-place 1.1/ 4 among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. Another two-hour edition of Dateline followed with 6.24 million viewers and a 1.4/ 5 in the demo from 9-11 p.m., building by half-hour as follows:

Dateline (NBC)

 9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 5.49 million (#2), A18-49: 1.2/ 4 (#4)

 9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 5.94 million (#2), A18-49: 1.4/ 5 (#3t)

10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 6.59 million (#1), A18-49: 1.5/ 5 (#1)

10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 6.93 million (#1), A18-49: 1.7/ 6 (#1)

NBC will open Friday this fall with shared 8 p.m. occupants Who Do You Think You Are? and new reality series School Pride at 8 p.m., followed by a one-hour edition of Dateline and new Jimmy Smits drama Outlaw from 9-11 p.m.

ABC kicked-off this typically low-rated Friday with canceled Wife Swap (Viewers: #3, 3.66 million; A18-49: #2, 1.2/ 5 at 8 p.m.), followed by newsmagazine Primetime: What Would You Do? (Viewers: #3, 5.10 million; A18-49: #1, 1.8/ 7) and granddaddy 20/20 (Viewers: #3, 4.54 million; A18-49: #2, 1.3/ 5) from 9-11 p.m. ABC’s Friday line-up this fall will be former Fox reality hour Secret Millionaire, new Dana Delany drama Body of Proof and veteran 20/20.

Fox had little of note with its combination of a repeat of House (Viewers: #5, 2.92 million; A18-49: #4, 1.0/ 4), which will be replaced by sophomore drama Human Target this fall, and the season-finale of Kitchen Nightmares (Viewers: #4, 3.41 million; A18-49: #3t, 1.3/ 5). Airing on Fox at 9 p.m. in the fall will be recent entry The Good Guys, which flopped in its Wednesday 8 p.m. debut last week.
