NBCU’s WNJU Reorgs News Ops

WNJU, NBC Universal’s owned-and-operated Telemundo station in New York, announced Friday (Oct. 30) a restructuring of its news operations to more efficiently produce news across multiple platforms. As part of the initiative, Jose Morales was named to the newly created position of vp of content.

In his new position, Morales will oversee the day-to-day operations of WNJU’s content center, both broadcast and digital.

“Jose brings a wealth of talent to the position, including a proven track record in both digital and production areas. With Jose at the helm, we are sure to meet the increasing needs of the public in this new technological area,” said Carlos Sanchez, president and general manager of WNJU.

For the past year, Morales served as director of digital content for Telemundo Local Media, where he led the content efforts for the Telemundo Local Stations’ digital platforms, spearheading a major overhaul of the local Web sites and mobile sites.

Prior to that, Morales was director of news operations for the NBC Television Stations Division.
