What’s Hot/What’s Not
-Solid Results for Syfy Friday:
The spring season of two Syfy dramas — Stargate Universe and Merlin — opened on Friday, April 2 with 1.5 million and 1.3 million viewers, respectively, in the 9-11 p.m. block. Comparably, Stargate Universe increased by 11 percent in total viewers from the December 2009 fall season-finale, with gains of 9 percent in households (1.2 rating), 12 percent in adults 18-49 (768,000) and 11 percent in adults 25-54 (936,000). Merlin, meanwhile, rose by 18 percent in total viewers and as much as 52 percent among adults 25-54 over the April 2009 debut of Primeval, the previous UK scripted series to premiere on Syfy.
The series-premiere of new Jerry Bruckheimer drama Miami Medical did not help the currently lackluster Friday night landscape. Based on the live plus same day ratings, Miami Medical opened with 7.49 million viewers and a 1.6 rating/5 share among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. on April 2. While that did win the time period in both categories, building from leading Medium (Viewers: 6.20 million; A18-49: 1.3/ 5 at 9 p.m.) by 1.29 million viewers and 23 percent in the demo, comparatively this was only on par with a repeat of former occupant Numb3rs on the year-ago evening.
Here are the live plus same day ratings by network for Friday, April 2:
CBS: 6.55 million, NBC: 6.44, ABC: 4.24, Fox: 3.23, CW: 1.58
CBS: 1.5 rating/5 share, CBS: 1.4/ 5, ABC: 1.3/ 5, Fox: 1.2/ 5, CW: 0.7/ 3

-Speaking of Dancing With the Stars:
If this was a contest based on talent, it would be the battle of Buzz Aldrin versus Kate Gosselin to depart tonight, with stiff as a board Kate most likely to bid adieu. But since the sentimental vote will likely keep the beloved astronaut afloat, my vote to depart is either Kate or the very serious Niecy Nash, who is better when she is cracking jokes.
