Sprint Is Selling Hulu’s Live TV Service as an Add-On Option for Subscribers

Its wireless customers can get the offering free for 30 days

For the past year, Sprint’s unlimited wireless customers have been able to stream Hulu’s limited commercials plan for free. Now they’ll also be able to subscribe to Hulu’s live TV service directly from their Sprint account—and watch it free for 30 days, followed by a discounted rate for six months after that.

Sprint and Hulu said today that Sprint customers can upgrade to Hulu with Live TV directly from their Sprint account. They’ll be able to watch the service, which includes live access to more than 50 top networks (you can find a full list here) and 75,000-plus episodes in Hulu’s library, free for the first 30 days, with a trial offer available through Jan. 10, 2019.

After that 30-day free trial, the $39.99 monthly subscription free will be added to their monthly Sprint bill. Sprint will give its customers a $5 credit for the first six months they pay for the service.

This extends the partnership between Sprint and Hulu that began last November, when subscribers to Sprint’s “unlimited freedom” plan were able to sign up for free access to the Hulu limited commercials plan, which usually costs $7.99 per month.

At the time, the companies said that Sprint unlimited customers will “soon” be able to upgrade to Hulu’s live TV screaming plan.

Regardless of whether or not they upgrade, Sprint Unlimited customers will continue to receive Hulu’s limited commercials plan at no additional cost.

Hulu broadened the Sprint partnership in the midst of its new “Better Ruins Everything” marketing campaign, which kicked off during last month’s Emmys with a spot featuring Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello.
